RUFUNSA DISTRICT

We are a local authority charged with the responsibility to provide municipal services to the citizens living within Rufunsa District boundaries. 

Rufunsa District draws its name from Rufunsa stream which runs in some parts of the District and was declared a District in 2012. Until its declaration as a District, Rufunsa used to be a satellite office for Chongwe Municipal Council.

Rufunsa District is situated approximately 165 km East of Lusaka city and lies at an altitude of 900-1200m above sea level between Latitude15 05′ 00” South and Longitude 29 38′ 00”East. The district is bordered by Chongwe on the west, Mukushi, Luano and Chibombo Districts in the north; Luangwa and Nyimba Districts in the Eastern and Kafue District in the South West. Rufunsa District covers about 9, 614, and 3798 square km and is one of the Six (6) Districts in Lusaka Province of Zambia.
