Rufunsa District has recorded a significant achievement in the education sector with the official opening of three newly constructed one-by-three classroom blocks at Mwachilele Primary School, Ebenezer Primary School, and Chaola Primary School. The projects were funded through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), reflecting government’s continued commitment to taking development directly to communities.
The colourful ceremony brought together key government and traditional leaders, including Lusaka Province Minister Hon. Sheal Muliyata, His Royal Highness Chief Bunda Bunda, Council Chairperson Kennedy Miloni, District Commissioner Richard Mabena, , and area Councillors, Heads of Government Departments.Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between government, traditional leadership, and the local authority in advancing education in Rufunsa.
Speaking during the event, Hon. She noted that CDF has become a powerful tool in addressing local development needs such as school infrastructure, health facilities, water access, and other community projects. She further stated that improved classroom space reduces congestion, enhances the teaching and learning environment, and motivates learners to remain in school.
His Royal Highness Chief Bunda Bunda placed strong emphasis on girl-child education, urging parents and guardians to prioritize education for all children. He issued a stern warning against early marriages, stressing that the practice robs children—especially girls—of their future. The Chief also encouraged young mothers to return to school after pregnancy, reinforcing the message that education must continue regardless of circumstances.
Council Chairperson Kennedy Miloni
reiterated the local authority’s commitment to ensuring that CDF resources are used effectively to improve the welfare of communities. He highlighted that through CDF, Rufunsa has seen tangible development in key sectors, and education remains one of the top priorities because it is the foundation of social and economic progress.
The new classroom blocks are expected to ease pressure on existing facilities, improve learner concentration, and contribute to better academic performance. Parents, teachers, and community members expressed gratitude for the development, describing it as a long-awaited intervention that will greatly improve learning conditions for their children.
The event stands as a testament to the impact of the Constituency Development Fund, which continues to empower communities by responding directly to their most pressing needs.
